Coach Taylor is entering his 5th season as Head Coach for the Bulldogs and his ninth season in all at Bearden. After graduating from Bearden in 1994, Coach Taylor played football at Tennessee Tech University. While at Tech, Coach Taylor was a four-year letterman and started as tight end for the Eagles three years. He graduated from Tech with a BS degree in Secondary Education in 1999. Coach Taylor continued at Tech as Graduate Assistant, coaching the tight ends. He received his Master’s degree in 2001. He served BHS for 5 years as receiver and quarterbacks coach, and spent one year at CAK coaching quarterbacks. Coach Taylor and his wife Kinsey have two sons, Tyson 6 and Will 3.
HUNTER FENDLEYOFFENSIVE LINE
This season begins Coach Fendley’s 12th year with the Bulldogs. Coach Fendley is a 1994 graduate of Bearden High School. After a brief time at the University of Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State, Coach Fendley graduated from Carson Newman in the summer of 2000. He received a BS degree in Physical Education and now teaches Physical Education at Bearden High School. Coach Fendley is married to Suzanne and they have two children, Christian 16 and Neyland 9. Christian is a member of the 2011 Bulldogs.
MORGAN SHINLEVERRUNNING BACKS
This is Coach Shinlever’s 6th season at Bearden High School and his 8th season of coaching football. Morgan is the son of John and Linda Shinlever. He is a 1999 graduate of Maryville High School. After high school he attended Maryville College to continue his education and playing career. Coach Shinlever graduated in 2003 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Recently, Morgan graduated from LMU with a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision. Pictured with Coach Shinlever is his wife Julie. Julie is a fourth grade teacher at West Hills Elementary School and is a 2005 graduate of Carson-Newman College.
BRIAN TANNERDEFENSIVE ENDS / DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
This is Coach Tanner’s 8th season at Bearden High School and he is entering his 5th season as Defensive Coordinator. He also served the Bearden High School football team as a volunteer assistant coach for one year in 1996. Coach Tanner is a 1993 graduate of Bearden High School. He received his B.A. in History from the University of Tennessee.
CHUCK ROUSELINEBACKERS
Coach Rouse begins his 7th year on the Bearden Staff. Coach Rouse is a graduate of Fulton High School’s class of 1976. Chuck was an All-State Tailback and 1st Team ALL East Tennessee linebacker for the Fulton Falcons leading them to the 1975 State Championship Game. After graduating from high school, Coach Rouse played professional baseball for the Pittsburg Pirates. Coach Rouse is married to Mitzi and they have two children; Natalie a 2004 Bearden Graduate and Graduate of Emory and Henry College, and Preston a 2008 Bearden Graduate who is now playing football at Austin Peay State University. REED LINDSEYDEFENSIVE BACK COACH
This is Coach Lindsey’s 7th year on the Bearden High School Football Coaching Staff. He is a graduate of Lenoir City High School and lettered three years. His senior year at Lenoir city he led the team in tackles and interceptions and received numerous defensive awards. Coach Lindsey received a football scholarship to East Tennessee State University, but was unable to fulfill the commitment due to an injury. After collage He coached for three years in the east Tennessee area for 3 years He has also served as the Vice President at Buddy’s Bar-B-Q for the past 26 years. Coach Lindsey is married to Suzanne and they have two daughters; Kendall 23 who graduated from Bearden in 2005 and Kristen 21 who graduated Bearden in 2007 and is a senior at UT.
ANDRE’ CABALLEROQUARTERBACKS
This is Coach Caballero’s 3rd year at Bearden High School. He is a native of California and a graduate of San Jose City College and Tennessee Tech University. A two-sport athlete in college, Coach Caballero earned Male Athlete of the year honors in 1996 and 1998 at each of his respective schools, lettering in football and baseball. He graduated from Tech with a BS degree in Secondary Education in 1999. Coach Caballero continued at Tech as a Graduate Assistant, coaching offensive backs and tight ends and received his Master’s degree in 2002. Coach Caballero spent one year coaching offensive backs at Randolph Henry High School in Virginia and spent one year coaching defensive backs at Cumberland College in Kentucky. Coach Caballero has twins, Zachary and Brooklyn.
MATT STEVENSFRESHMAN COACH
Coach Stevens is a 2000 Oak Ridge High School graduate where played football from 1996 – 1999. He earned his B. A. in 2004 from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville majoring in history and geography. Coach Stevens earned his Masters’ degree in education from Carson- Newman College in 2006. During his time at Carson-Newman, he volunteer coached at Clinton High School. Coach Stevens will be entering his 6th year of teaching at West Valley Middle School, and his 3rd season coaching at Bearden High School. Pictured with Coach Stevens is his wife Chantelle.
TOMMY CAMPBELLTEAM CHAPLAIN
Tommy has served as Chaplain for the football team for the past 13 years. A native of Athens, Tennessee and a graduate of both McMinn County High School and Carson Newman, Tommy now serves as Minister of Youth at Central Baptist Church of Bearden. Tommy is married to Becky Perrin Campbell of Knoxville and is a proud Dad to Austin and Will, both BHS graduates and former bulldog football players.
KATHERINE CATTERALLATHLETIC TRAINER
Katherine received EMT-IV certification and received an Associates of Applied Science degree from Roane State Community College. She then continued her education at Tusculum College and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Athletic Training. Katherine has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 2010.
The decision to become an athletic trainer was based on the fact that she could be a healthcare professional, as well as work in a sports setting. Katherine says, “it allows me to work with a variety of people, which keeps my job interesting and diverse.” Her favorite part of being the athletic trainer for Bearden High School is working with the student athletes to minimize their risk of injury and being a part of their success.
Katherine currently serves as the Camp Director for the Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Medicine Camp, which is held each year for high school students who are interested in the athletic training profession.
MITCH CARTERFRESHMEN COACH
Mitch Carter will be in his first season with the Bulldog Football coaching staff. Coach Carter recently completed his 20th year as Assistant Basketball Coach at Bearden and will be in his 16th season with the Bulldog Baseball program, including 3 years as Head Coach (2001-2003). Coach Carter was KIL Coach of the Year in baseball in 2001. He is a graduate of Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett High School and has been a teacher at Bearden since 1993. Coach Carter has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Tennessee.
LEON DAUGHERTYDEFENSIVE TACKLES
This is Coach Daugherty’s 21st year coaching football. He previously coached at West High School and Halls High School. Coach Daugherty has coached at Bearden High School 9 years. He has worked with the defensive and offensive lines, running backs, and receivers. Leon is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He and his wife, Leesa, have been married 32 years and they have three children, Jessie, Jackie, and Ray.
REGGIE EPPSDEFENSIVE TACKLES
Coach Epps begins his 2nd season with the Bearden Bulldogs. He is a 2001 graduate of Ridgeway High School in Memphis, TN. After high school, Coach Epps attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a BS degree in Education. He also received a BS degree in Special Education from Middle Tennessee State University and is now a special education teacher at Bearden High School.
